Hurricane Update

Dear Friends,

As many of you are aware, Hurricane Harvey has brought catastrophic devastation to the Texas Gulf Coast and now threatens parts of Louisiana. The storm's path has left coastal communities in ruins, and the remnants of Harvey continue to effect the Houston area with incredible amounts of rain. Much of Houston and eastern Texas are underwater.

In the Diocese of West Texas alone, Harvey's force left coastal communities in ruins, now without power or infrastructure, and it may take weeks for those to be restored.
We know there are many people concerned about the communities that have been affected, and everyone wants to know how they can help.

How to Help
Donate to Episcopal Relief & Development's Hurricane Harvey Fund and provide emergency assistance to people recovering from the impact of flooding after this major storm. Your generous support will supply critical necessities for communities immediately and for the long-term as they recover and rebuild.

(All donations made to the Diocese of Texas will directly support their churches that are serving as shelters to flood victims and evacuees.)

In Our Diocese
As the storm moves more into this state over the following days, the damage to Louisiana will grow worse. The Episcopal Relief and Development provides resources on how to prepare for disasters. While there is still time, I urge you to reach out and provide assistance to those who are most vulnerable in your churches and communities.

Stay safe, stay dry, and keep in touch
In Christ's Love,

ECW Summer Celebration

Church Dedication and Thanksgiving!

Church dedication services were held for New Greater Hope Church, on Sunday, June 25, at 3:00 p.m. at their new home on Nutland Road. You all will remember that New Great Hope Church worshiped at St. Thomas' as their interim home for a while.

I attended the dedication and The Reverend Calvin Cyrus and The Reverend Sheila Cyrus expressed their appreciation to all at St. Thomas for our hospitality as they celebrated their beginning at the new church building.

What a wonderful and joyous celebration it was!

Bouncing Bette!

The Archdeacon Bette Jo Kauffman bounces around from church to church - that is her job!

That is because the Archdeacon works first and foremost for the Bishop and serves the whole church. We learned yesterday from the Bishop (both St. Thomas' and St. Alban's), that the Archdeacon will soon be bouncing on to her next assignment.

That is her story to tell, but the Episcopal church is small and we all talk - so you may hear it somewhere else first.

Thanks for all you've given us Bette Jo and prayers for your continued ministry to the Church!

Father's Day Eucharist

This Sunday, June 18, is Father's Day.

God our Father, in your wisdom and love you made all things. Bless and strengthen our fathers and those who have been fathers to us. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, their sons, daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

We will celebrate Holy Eucharist at 10:00 a.m.  A short coffee time will follow so we can get home to spend time with family! Join us!
